I was working on my usual Saturday at footlocker, when all of a sudden, far from subtle fluro neon colored shoes flashed by my eyes. Yes these are the latest hypermax 2z which by the way didn't release in New Zealand. I approached the person who was wearing them, and found out he was Trevor Hunter the Accounts Executive for Nike (Asia and Pasific). According to him they released about 70 pairs of those hypermax 2'z in Australia. I had a long chat to him about nike and the direction they've been taking lately (mass production) and the cheap quality of Jordans, although it's a separate company they still work together. He pretty much said that they are trying to suit many people's needs in footwear, but still feature a high quality range of shoes with premium leather being one of the plenty other unique textures.
The Jordan range has definitely been lacking quality shoes lately. Since that "Nike Air" symbol left the back and bottom of those Jordan shoes, I've started noticing a decline in the quality of their goods. Seriously i understand that there are legal obligations they have to meet since they're a separate entity, but at the end of the day we are the consumers and we love the product. I believe if they make better quality products and make them a little bit more expensive we would still buy them, and ACTUALLY be happy with them.
Apparently the mold for the shoes has stayed the same, but the last (which makes up the shape of the toe box) has changed to become more wider rather than the original narrow kinda slim pointy shoe!!. Personally i just want the original thing, the way it was in 1985 when the Jordan 1 came out or the 1996 jordan 11. Well he did make me feel better by telling me that he meet up with Micheal Jordan last week and has made an arrangement for the Jordan 12'z to come out like the original quality. If it isn't he owes me a free pair haha. They are coming out in the original black and white, white/red, and white/white patent leather with detailed stitching.
Trevor also gave me a sneak peak of a lot of general release shoes forecast ed to be released early 2010 and later. They where alright but nothing i got my cheap thrills over. They are apparently releasing these shoes called Hyper Rize which is like a hyper dunk but with more improved technology.
I will be keeping contact with Trevor so you'll be expecting other cool info about the Swoosh!!
