Air Max Party
I was invited to go to the nike air max party on Tuesday night. It was pretty exciting how they named cocktails after the air max series (airmax1, 95,180 etc). The event was sponsored by nike and Vodka 42 below. Mike from Nike was there lol how funny is that..his name actually rhymes with his job. Anyway it was really cool because Mike gave us a history lesson of how the airmax came about. I found out that in 1987 Tinker Hatfield the mastermind behind the Jordan IIIz was walking in Paris, when suddenly he came accros this strange looking structured building with these round looking air pipes rizing from the ground. Suddenly the talented shoe designer (Architect by profession) realised that in order to make the lightest running shoe he needs to use the lightest substance known to man 'AIR'. So he designed an air socket to fit in to the sole. That's how the Airmax 1 came in to life. Also Big Leon from Qubic store did a speech about how much of a nike airmax fan he is. Hahaha he's a shoe freak all together i think, so am i so i can't really say anything bout that :D.. He showed us a pair of Exclusive Safari airmax 1z..soooo nice people!!hehe
He also spoke about his recent visit to L.a and his tour around the Nike factory..he was fortunate enough to meet Tinker actually (lucky guy man). Funny enough Leon was also wearing a pair of airmax 90 infraredz hehe.
The best bit was when Mike had this little competition planned out for us. He asked us to go into teams of four, gave us a white air max 90, paint and brushes and told us to paint it with a little inspiration of what Mike spoke about. The winners all gt a free pair of shoes. Lol Instantly me and my other friends Sam Wild and Aja formed a team and actually ended up winning it. So now I'm waiting on my shoes to arrive :D

Inside info on the swoosh

I was working on my usual Saturday at footlocker, when all of a sudden, far from subtle fluro neon colored shoes flashed by my eyes. Yes these are the latest hypermax 2z which by the way didn't release in New Zealand. I approached the person who was wearing them, and found out he was Trevor Hunter the Accounts Executive for Nike (Asia and Pasific). According to him they released about 70 pairs of those hypermax 2'z in Australia. I had a long chat to him about nike and the direction they've been taking lately (mass production) and the cheap quality of Jordans, although it's a separate company they still work together. He pretty much said that they are trying to suit many people's needs in footwear, but still feature a high quality range of shoes with premium leather being one of the plenty other unique textures.
The Jordan range has definitely been lacking quality shoes lately. Since that "Nike Air" symbol left the back and bottom of those Jordan shoes, I've started noticing a decline in the quality of their goods. Seriously i understand that there are legal obligations they have to meet since they're a separate entity, but at the end of the day we are the consumers and we love the product. I believe if they make better quality products and make them a little bit more expensive we would still buy them, and ACTUALLY be happy with them.
Apparently the mold for the shoes has stayed the same, but the last (which makes up the shape of the toe box) has changed to become more wider rather than the original narrow kinda slim pointy shoe!!. Personally i just want the original thing, the way it was in 1985 when the Jordan 1 came out or the 1996 jordan 11. Well he did make me feel better by telling me that he meet up with Micheal Jordan last week and has made an arrangement for the Jordan 12'z to come out like the original quality. If it isn't he owes me a free pair haha. They are coming out in the original black and white, white/red, and white/white patent leather with detailed stitching.
Trevor also gave me a sneak peak of a lot of general release shoes forecast ed to be released early 2010 and later. They where alright but nothing i got my cheap thrills over. They are apparently releasing these shoes called Hyper Rize which is like a hyper dunk but with more improved technology.
I will be keeping contact with Trevor so you'll be expecting other cool info about the Swoosh!!

Giuliano Fujiwara High-Tops Spring/Summer 2010

Giuliano Fujiwara have a minimal philosophy on there designs. But, in this collection they have spiced things up with there line of accessories. These shoes are more like sneaker head style shoes, with straight forward designs and a mixture of colors. They kinda look like the Air Yeezy's or creativ recreations, but with more details in the materials and a less stuffed out soles. This makes these shoes more attractive and stand out from their other high-top counterparts.
In order to keep with the traditional Fujiwara concept of “minimalism”, these high-tops are colored in a monochromatic series of navy, red, white and sand.
